In Windows, using the setup icon in the main group:
        set your video controller to Compaq Advanced VGA 640X480 256.
  In the control panel, click on the display icon
       set your monitor to the type of monitor you have.  Must support SVGA.
       800X600 should now be an option.
  
  A couple words of warning.  The internal monitor does not support the mode. 
  Therefore, you must place the unit in external mode before you set it ot 
  SVGA and must set the resolution back to 640X480 when you leave.  Otherwise 
  when powered up, the monitor will switch back to the internal driver but the 
  pen/mouse calibation is off as it is thinking 800X600.  You can still use it 
  but you will have to offset the placement.
  
  All the drivers should already be there.
