This page was created to be an information source for one of the most innovative laptops even invented - The Compaq Concerto. This page is also heavily slanted to get the Concerto to work with a real OS - OS/2.
Out of hard drive space
? Need more room for those 3 OSs you have on you concerto.
Some people have replaced their concerto hard drive with larger
models. The
Seagate
ST9655AG 500 MB Hard Drive is a
drop in replacement for the normal concerto hard drives.
WARNING: Concerto 16 meg memory modules Many concerto
users that have upgraded their machine with 16 meg memory
modules have had trobles getting them to work. Some statistics
from the net suggest that about 2 out of 3 people get bad memory
modules the first time round. Some suspect a bad module design.
So if you are going to take this plunge, be sure to buy from
somewhere that has a good return policy.
Broken Handles - It seems that broken plastic handles and other
plastic parts are pretty common with the concerto.
Here is some suggestions on how to identify if
your handle could be suseptible to break and how to prevent this problem.
Suspend mode and OS/2 - This is a cry for help from all of us
who use OS/2 on the concerto. So far, there are roomers of a
patch to the Concerto ROM that will fix the problem with OS/2 and
suspend mode. No one, however, has found a patch that works.
Here is a description of what has been tried so
far. If you have any suggestions, please E-mail me at the bottom link.
